Our team had to diligently carry out their tasks on these protected sites whilst working around the restricted safe tide crossing times.

Percy Gardens is one of the most sought after streets in North Tyneside. S V Rutter Ltd were fortunate enough to acquire one of the last houses in the prestigious Victorian crescent. We converted the property into a two bed ground floor apartment, a three bed first floor apartment and a five bed maisonette. Each residence retained its generous room sizes and period features.

In 2016 we completed work to the façade of a number of properties on Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Many would describe Grey Street as architecturally, the jewel in the crown of the North East.  It has one of the highest concentrations of listed buildings in the entire country due to their historical and architectural importance.

These prestigious Grade I and II buildings have centuries of character and their grand exterior form the back drop to the beating heart of Newcastle city centre.

As a building company, listed buildings come with their own challenges to renovate and on this project, S V Rutter Ltd were proud to be responsible for the large scale restoration.  We carried out a full condition survey of the façade to a number of adjoining properties.  The intricate details of the natural stone had to be carefully recorded to ensure that our restoration trades could prepare replacement stone in advance to ensure that time on site and disruption to the tenants and general public was minimised.  The skill and care taken at each stage of the renovation process was essential to ensure that the restoration works are seamlessly integrated with the existing building.

In 2019, similar works have been completed on Pilgrim Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Hadrian is a vibrant school for primary aged children with a wide range of physical and learning disabilities.  Hadrian’s flagship asset for it’s therapeutic curriculum is a state of the art Rebound Therapy Centre, Training Centre and Music Studio.

With nine full-size trampolines including overhead tracking facilities and sensory sound and light systems, Hadrian are now able to lead the way in terms of this pioneering new treatment pathway.

S V Rutter Ltd were appointed to act as the main contractor.  With an extremely limited budget and site access, the project presented a number of difficulties these included working in an area surrounded by woods covered by a Tree Preservation Order to co-ordinating and utilising in a cohesive manner a multitude of donors who had generously granted their time, skills and materials to make the project a reality.

The North East now has one of the country’s most sought after boathouses.  S V Rutter Ltd were able to demonstrate our diversity by constructing an impressive new home to accommodate the club’s expanding membership and ambitions.

Design and Build – S V Rutter Ltd worked with Tyne Amateur Rowing Club to develop and understand the functional needs of a rowing club so that the boathouse design could be established to not only meet the current demands of the club, but also those in perpetuity. Along with a significant legacy donation, Sport England were the main funder of the project. Our design development stage included adhering to Sport England’s rigorous standards and design criteria without compromising the fundamental needs of the club.
There was also the added consideration of maintaining the Historic River God Tyne stone carving which was respectfully reinstated in the club’s vestibule.
